I have lived in the Monmouth/Independence community for over 20 years, and know It is a place where all can thrive. Though I love Chemeketa, I will never forget my time working at Western Oregon University in the Student Enrichment Program from 1995-2000. I have over 20 years of experience working with diverse populations from all backgrounds, ages, genders, gender identification, sexual orientation and political affiliations. Through connections I have fostered with area professionals and internship development, students have earned positions at companies such as, Boeing, GK Machine, Intel and various career technical organizations. That advantage goes away when the rivets. I love my job! I have the opportunity to help students determine career paths, and to coach students to recognize their strengths and what they can offer the world. One of the biggest advantages of stainless steel cookware sets like this one is that they hold up practically forever. I am honored to be employed by Chemeketa Community College, a Hispanic Serving Institution. I currently devote myself to my most important job, which is being a mother. My parents and grandparents instilled in me the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the gift of believing that anything is possible.

I can still remember the last dance where he performed before he passed in September 2001. My father taught me the importance of creating strong ties to community, as I observed him bringing joy to so many people as a musician in his Tex-Mex band. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Oregon State University in 1995 and a Master’s Degree from Portland State University in 2000. I am a second generation American and the first woman in my family to go to college. Subsequently, my mother completed a work-based program and was hired by Salem Hospital where she has been a Unit Clerk for more than 40 years. Now, as a wife and mother, I continue to establish roots for my family in Monmouth. As a daughter of migrant workers with experience working hard long days in the fields, I will never forget my roots and the sacrifices my family made.

My family migrated to Oregon from Mexico and Texas over 50 years ago to build a better life.
